Sadly, we won’t be able to make it to the walk this time. We are really hoping that we can come to the next one! As for switching to adult food, we actually switched Abby early on. She was having some stomach issues on the large breed puppy food and Danielle thought she may have a sensitivity to chicken, so she suggested we put her on ProPlan sensitive skin and stomach (salmon-based). So far, it’s been going really well. Anyways, have fun at the walk! If any of you are in the Toronto area, we’d love to meet up sometime.

Sad that we had so many missing littermates on last Sunday’s walk, but wow! Was it ever great!

I’m sure the pups appreciated all the mud much more than we did, but it was amazing watching Archer and J

Hey everyone! Hope everyone’s summer has been going great! We’ve been having lots of fun.

I wanted to share this video of Archer from last month at her favourite spot (our usual trail has this bridge about half-way through the walk.. Archer loves to romp in the stream below!)

    Cute video of Archer!

Will any of Abby’s littermates be at the walk tomorrow? Hope to see some of you there! Very excited about Abby’s first walk.

Well, Miss Archer went into heat conveniently two weeks before her birthday.

Any of the other littermates having fun in underwear? Haha! Or, has anyone got their surgeries booked? We’re going through Danielle and her vet just to have that peace of mind. We just need to wait until all this funny business with Archer is over 🙂

We decided to beat the heat and had Abby’s surgery done earlier. We went to Danielle’s vet and it was great. She stayed there for a week after, so we didn’t have to worry about any complications. Good luck with Archer’s heat!

Glad Abby’s okay! When did you get it done? I thought we had to wait until they were a year old for the pexy?

Although I was also on the fence about doing it before she had her first heat or after. Lots of information for and against both options. Archer made that decision for us though 😛

HaPpY BiRtHdAy to all Ituka & Kokanee Pups!

Magnus is celebrating by napping by the fire this morning. Maybe, we will go for a run this afternoon. I can’t believe its been a year already but, there are days it feels like he’s been with us forever.

Hope all brother and sisters are doing well.

Merlin is not having a very good birthday.
His right back leg is bothering him. I’m hoping it’s growing pains but need to look into it more. Then when putting him in his cage this morning, he got hit collar caught on the hinge and choked himself. Luckily he did it while I was still home. I was able to get his collar off but there was no way he was going back in. So he had his first morning being locked in the kitchen rather than his cage.
I am hoping everyone else is having a much better day than Merlin.

Happy birthday Ituka & Kokanee puppies!!

Oh man, Merlin is just not having a great day! Poor guy!

Archer woke up to find some marvellous smell in our yard. We’re not sure if it was a raccoon or fox or what, but she decided to track it through our yard, up the driveway, and into the neighbour’s driveway. We ruined her fun by bringing her back in. Otherwise, she’s having a nice, quiet day.

    Happy Birthday littermates!!

Sorry to hear that Merlin had a bad day. I hope he feels better soon. Abby had a great birthday. We took her to the pet store for a new toy and some treats. We also had family visiting and they played with her all night.

As for the question about Abby’s spa/gastropexy, we had it done around 10 months. Danielle said it was safe to have it done at that time and we preferred to beat the heat 🙂

    Hi Alicia,

We’ve never experienced any unsolicited barking from Archer (some typical “play with me now!” barks and growls when she wants to play, but otherwise nothing). Has he been neutered yet? We only really noticed Archer behaving differently when she was in heat.

Maybe give Danielle a call and see if she’s heard/seen this in any of her males?

OMG Merlin is a talker. He barks a lot. He talks. He talks back. He even learned how to whisper bark to the dog behind us because he would be called in the second he started barking.
During the day, he is quiet. He spends most of his time in his open cage. In the evening, he uses all his stored up energy. When he comes back from a walk, he gets the zoomies before he crashes for the night.
If Sheldon is sitting on the couch, he will sit there and bark at him. He sometimes just gives you royal hell for nothing at all.
I pull out my water spray bottle and he stops. Most times he doesn’t even need to be sprayed. Sheldon just tends to yell back so its a barking match on both sides.
I’m hoping things change once he’s been neutered, but that’s not happening until March Break.
