    Hello littermates!

I thought we should get another thread going again to see how these pups are coming along!

How is everyone doing? Archer’s growth has been insane! Last weekend we weighed her at just over 60lbs (my friend said just under 70lbs when he weighed her, but when I tried it said 61lbs so we’ll say somewhere in that area?)! We also had our first puppy school last earlier this week. Apparently puppies come in smaller sizes? Who knew? 😛

    How’s everyone else doing?

    Hi Littermates!

Abby is doing great – she’s very sweet, calm, and gentle. She graduated from puppy class a few weeks ago and we’ll be starting a foundations class soon. She’s also really friendly and loves to meet other dogs and people. We’re in a condo building and she is very well liked by all our neighbours. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to meet you all at the next walk!

Archer’s just gone through some big “growing days” where she refuses to do anything and is quite content with that (we had a great, lazy Easter weekend!). And she’s been losing teeth like crazy, but hardly seems to notice (or care) whenever one of those little puppy teeth fall out.

She’s made quite a few Dane friends (none from Dantry, and it’s actually quite obvious to spot the difference, even with Archer so young) which is great because she can play at full-speed and not worry about those pesky “thunder paws” getting too aggressive.

We’ve had her in puppy school for a few weeks now and just sit and watch. Archer knows everything they’re teaching, or does things slightly differently (better for what we want from her). It feels like an absolute waste of money, but it’s fantastic socializing time for her and we still have another month to go so who knows, maybe we’ll get a few good tips out of it after all. 😉

Is anyone else using a Dremel to trim their puppy’s nails? I’ve been lagging at this whole dog-blogging-thing, but I just posted about our experience with the Dremel and Archer

    Hello again!

Archer’s been a little under the weather the past few days. Our best guess (99.9% likely) is that she ate another stick. Anyone else having the same issue with their winter-raised-what-is-this-greenery-stuff-puppy? Archer loves to get sticks almost as much as she loves each bark/small sticks on the ground.

The punny-hilarity of having a dog that loves to eat bark! 😉

Also, we just ordered a 6-month subscription with BarkBox. Has anyone ever tried them? I wanted to for a while, but didn’t have free shipping to Canada until recently. We figure we spend enough on treats and toys (we should just buy stock in Kong at this point!) to justify $20/month for some random-toy-delivered-goodness. I read up a bit on the company and they seem pretty good. We’re looking forward to seeing what goodies we get later this month!

(We also got a coupon thing to give to friends if anyone wants to try? $5 off your order!)

Sorry to hear that Archer’s not feeling well. Abby also loves sticks. If given the choice between any sort of food on the street or sticks, she’ll pick sticks every time! Sometimes she’ll even be more interested in a stick than another dog and she absolutely loves to play with other dogs. Recently she saw a cop on a horse and was very fascinated with the horse, it was adorable. She even started to playfully growl at it. We’ve heard so many Great Dane horse jokes already, so it was funny when Abby finally met her match.

She’s feeling much better now! We boiled some chicken for her, then used the water we boiled the chicken in to cook up some rice and that seemed to settle her stomach well. We haven’t seen evidence of the stick, but I have to think that was the culprit. Never was there a more proud Dane than when Archer prances along on her walk with a freshly-discovered stick 😉

That’s hilarious! Abby probably thought it was just another Dane 😉

Merlin has had a few off days as well.

Archer discovered the cat’s litter was worth noticing yesterday. Ugh.

Is anyone else going to the Dantry Walk next Sunday? Matt and I will be there with Archer. I’d love to see how she stacks up with some of her littermates! 🙂 Should be a great time!

I’m so upset we can’t go to the walk.

We figured we’d switch Archer when she hits 6 months, so we’re close to doing it too. We still have a fair bit of puppy food, so we’ll use that until it’s almost done and then mix adult/puppy for a few days before making the switch completely.

Sad you guys won’t be there! Hopefully we’ll see you next time 🙂

I have to take Merlin to the vet to get him weighed on the big scale.
